One of the films that is surprisingly skipping most of the fall film festivals is David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which I thought would’ve been a good fit for the Telluride Film Festival. While we wait for Sony/Columbia to continue their marketing for the film, which is set to hit theaters in December, our friends at SlashFilm have found a mysterious new behind-the-scenes production blog called Mouth Taped Shut (awesome). The thing is, we’re not sure if it’s real, or if it’s viral, or if it’s just run by someone working on the film, but it has a few unseen photos, videos and more from the closed set of Dragon Tattoo.

The site contains tons of various random photos, links, videos and more, as it’s a Tumblr that’s posting anything related to Fincher’s Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. As SlashFilm says, “these appear to have been taken on closed sets (see the video embedded above), in the editing room, and in the production office by an insider.” He thinks that the site may be run by someone working on the production with Fincher, but isn’t an official Columbia Pictures blog, which will be interesting to see once Sony gets a whiff of this. Despite being only 13 years old at the time, Chloe Moretz played two of the strongest female characters seen on film in 2010. It began in Matthew Vaughn’s Kick Ass, where she played the tough-as-nails killing machine known as Hit Girl and continued into Matt Reeves’ Let Me In, in which she played a blood-hungry creature of the night. In Derick Martini’s Hick, though, she plays a wholly different kind of character with a new personality trait: vulnerability. Check out the first clip from the film below, courtesy of MTV.

Based on the book by Andrea Portes, the story follows Luli McMullen (Moretz), a young girl from a broken home in Nebraska. When her parents begin having a huge fight in the middle of her birthday party, she decides to hit the road to Vegas with only her birthday present – a Smith & Wesson .45 – by her side. The film co-stars Blake Lively (who plays Glenda, a drug addict who drags Luli into her criminal dealings) Eddie Redmayne, Juliette Lewis, Alec Baldwin, and Rory Culkin. The film is set to premiere later this month at the Toronto International Film Festival.

1080P

1080p is the shorthand name for a category of HDTV video modes. The number 1080 represents 1,080 lines of vertical resolution (1,080 horizontal scan lines),[1] while the letter p stands for progressive scan (meaning the image is not interlaced). 1080p can be referred to as full HD or full high definition although 1080i is also “Full HD” (1920×1080 pixels). The term usually assumes a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9, implying a horizontal resolution of 1920 pixels. This creates a frame resolution of 1920×1080. The frame rate in hertz can be either implied by the context or specified after the letter p (or i), such as 1080p30, meaning 30 Hz. More Info click here….

720P

720p is the shorthand name for a category of HDTV video modes. The number 720 stands for the 720 horizontal scan lines of display resolution (also known as 720 pixels of vertical resolution), while the letter p stands for progressive scan or non-interlaced. When broadcast at 60[1] frames per second, 720p features the highest temporal (motion) resolution possible under the ATSC standard. Progressive scanning reduces the need to prevent flicker by filtering out fine details, so sharpness is much closer to 1080i than the number of scan lines would suggest.More Info click here….

BDRip

A final retail version of a film, typically released before it is available outside its originating region. Often after one group of pirates releases a high-quality DVD-Rip, the “race” to release that film will stop. Because of their high quality, DVD-Rips generally replace any earlier copies that may already have been circulating.

R5

The R5 is a retail DVD from region 5. Region 5 consists of Eastern Europe (former Soviet Union), Indian subcontinent, Africa, North Korea, and Mongolia. R5 releases differ from normal releases in that they are a direct Telecine transfer of the film without any of the image processing. If the DVD does not contain an English-language audio track, the R5 video is synced to a previously released English audio track. Then a LiNE tag is added.[7] This means that the sound often isn’t as good as DVD-Rips.

DVD-Rip

A final retail version of a film, typically released before it is available outside its originating region. Often after one group of pirates releases a high-quality DVD-Rip, the “race” to release that film will stop. Because of their high quality, DVD-Rips generally replace any earlier copies that may already have been circulating.

DVDR

A final retail version of a film in DVD format. Usually a complete copy from the original DVD. If the original DVD is released in the DVD-9 format, extras might be removed and/or the video re-encoded to make the image fit the more common and less expensive (for burning) DVD-5 format. DVDR releases often follow DVD-Rips after a few hours. DVDRs will normally be larger files, (around 4.5GB). DVDRs contain the menus etc. Uncompressed copies are noted as DVD9, with only FBI and other copyright warnings removed. Untouched releases are 1:1 rips of the source, with nothing removed or changed.
